Executive Communications Strategist
Melissa Jarmel has 15 years of experience working with organizations to build thoughtful, targeted, and engaging marketing and communications programs. Her background includes developing meaningful external communications efforts, managing crisis communications, creating new – and supporting existing – brand identities, and crafting marketing content that advances business objectives.
Previously, Melissa oversaw global internal communications at MF Global, where she also managed financial communications. In addition, she held various positions at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), leading a rebranding effort for the 150-year-old organization and establishing programs to promote greater executive visibility.
Melissa developed her passion for storytelling and ability to distill complicated information into easy-to-understand content during the eight years she spent working as a reporter. She began her career in journalism covering general news and then worked for Reuters, reporting on the economy, financial markets, and major market-moving events.
Melissa has a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Japanese studies.
